Merchants and navigators, they are said to have discovered the Americas before the Vikings or Christopher Columbus. Legend or fact? does it really matter? Knowing how great a civilization they were, one can only imagine it could be true. Visiting Lebanon and not mentioning them is heresy. But for that little extra, why not go look for what remains are actually left in the country?

We know there aren’t as many as one would like, but it doesn’t mean there is nothing to see. Quite the opposite in fact. Some are famous (the Batroun Phonician wall) and some are less so. But they are all very ancient and tell of a greatness long gone.
